FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: March 9, 2020 – Vancouver, BC.  Women In the Director’s Chair (WIDC) alumnae-directed films took home the top feature film prizes given out at the Vancouver International Women in Film Festival (VIWFF) Awards Gala on March 8th, International Women’s Day.

Red Snow writer /director Marie Clements received the CFA Award for Best Screenplay and the DGC BC Award for Best Direction.  Red Snow also received the IATSE Local 891 Award for Best Feature.

A WIDC Feature Film Award winning film, Red Snow is distributed in Canada by A-71 and begins its Canadian theatrical run Friday, March 13, 2020 with screenings at Cineplexes in four cities:

  • Vancouver, Cineplex  International Village, 7:00 pm
    • screening includes a moderated Q & A with the filmmakers
  • Toronto, Cineplex Yonge & Dundas
  • Calgary, Cineplex Eau Claire
  • Ottawa, Cineplex Scotiabank

Also recognized at the VIWFF Awards Gala,  Black Conflux received the CCE Award for Best Editing in a feature for Sophie Leblond and the SIM Award for Best Cinematography in a Feature for Marie Davigno. Black Conflux is written and directed by alumna Nicole Dorsey and received development support through the WIDC Story & Leadership program.
