Sibel Guvenc is an award-winning and internationally-acclaimed Turkish-Canadian director, writer, and producer based in Toronto, ON. She has made ten award-winning short films which have screened worldwide at international film festivals and markets, including Clermont Ferrand, Boston, Palm Springs, Yorkton, Canadian Filmmakers, Reelworld, WorldFest Houston, and the Kolkata International Film Festivals. Her films have been broadcast on BRAVO!Canada, CBC, City TV, Deutsche Welle, and Ragusani nel Mondo.
Sibel has an MFA in Film from York University, and an Honours BFA degree in Integrated Media and Film from OCAD University. She is a director alumna of the WIDC program in Banff with lead mentors, Lea Pool and Carol Whiteman, the WIDC Career Advancement Module (CAM Toronto), as well as the TIFF Talent Lab. Sibel was selected for the Telefilm Producers without Borders 2016 Berlinale Coproduction Market, CMPA Telefilm Producer Trainee Program with Sandra Cunningham. Through 2020 WIFT-T Connect Program, Sibel has been mentor-matched with Marlo Miazga, the head of Bristow Global Media. In 2020 she was selected for the Whistler Film Festival Producer’s Lab with her dramatic feature film Loya
