A graduate of the New York Film Academy, Rebecca is the Executive Producer, Co-Creator, and Show Runner of Taken (APTN, CBC) in addition to being an award-winning episode writer and director for the series and the recent recipient of a Beyond Borders Media Award and two CSA nominations. Rebecca is an award-winning actor whose work includes The Pinkertons (Netflix), the film that launched The Murdoch Mysteries, and Burden of Truth (CBC, CW). An alumna of Women In the Director’s Chair, Rebecca was the director mentor for their 2018 Short Works Award program. As a writer, director, producer, Rebecca’s work includes the digital documentary series Child First, the documentary Daphne Korol: The Drama Queen of Winnipeg, and most recently the award-winning short Hard Way Girl which has played festivals around the world. Formerly Head of Production for the female filmmaker collective Red Czarina Entertainment, their award-winning drama H&G, which Rebecca co-wrote and produced, premiered at VIFF and is distributed by Multiple Media in Canada and Amazon Prime in the United States and Europe. Rebecca is devoted to supporting parity, diversity, accessibility, and inclusion. She recently collaborated with Women in View and the Gimli Film Festival to create the Future is Female* mentorship program. She created and produces Orange Daisy Project, a social action campaign and documentary series in support of mental health for teen girls. A leading advocate for mental health, Rebecca was honoured nationally as a CAMH Difference Maker. She was honoured as ACTRA Manitoba’s 2018 Woman of the Year.
