Mia Fiona Kut is a writer, director, actress, and entrepreneur from Richmond, BC. A storyteller drawn to plays from a young age, Mia’s work reflects her unique voice of mixed Chinese, Russian, and Indonesian heritage growing up in Canada. She strives for diversity and rawness in her filmmaking. She launched her film production company Ruckus Entertainment after completing her degree at Simon Fraser University, simultaneously delving into acting. Her first web series, Ivy Tower, debuted at the Los Angeles Web Festival, and her follow up film, Wildhouse, played at international film festivals as well as won the Award of Excellence at Canada Shorts. In 2015, she was named Top 30 Under 30 and made the cover for the Richmond Review. She has also appeared in various acting roles in shows on Netflix, the CW, FOX, CBC, and DirecTV. Her short film, Sonder, which received sponsorship from Keslow Camera, was nominated for the ‘Best Canadian Short Award’ at the Vancouver Asian Film Festival where she was a panelist speaker, and won the ‘Best Female Filmmaker’ award at the Los Angeles International Short Film Festival. Her feature film screenplays for Land of No Nocturne and Heliophilia were both Runner Ups in 2017 and 2018’s WIFTV’s Genre Screenplay Competition.
