Katia Café-Fébrissy is a Toronto-based award-winning Writer & Director. She originates from Paris, France and is of French Caribbean heritage. She’s lived and worked in five different countries, and besides English and French, she speaks Spanish and Creole fluently. Katia is a member of the Directors Guild of Canada (DGC), the Francophone Writers Guild of Canada (SARTEC), and Women in Film & Television – Toronto (WIFT-T). In addition, she sits on the Board of Directors of the Liaison of Independent Filmmakers of Toronto (LIFT). She is an alumna of the 2018 WIDC Story & Leadership program and Career Advancement Module and the Varan Doc Film Centre, France where she earned her postgraduate diploma in Documentary Filmmaking. She also holds an MA in Literature and Languages from the Université de Paris VIII, France.

Katia’s filmography includes NFB-produced Social Me / Mes réseaux social et moi (24’) which premiered on CBC’s French counterpart, Radio Canada TV in 2015. Her latest film released in 2017, Root up / À la racine (27’), has won three awards, and is part of the official selection of Caribbean Tales international Film Festival and the Kuala Lumpur Eco Film Festival. Through WIDC she is developing her family dynamic web series, Grounded.
