Jinder Oujla-Chalmers is president and executive producer of Inner Vision Productions Inc. She has been an independent writer, producer and director of documentaries, television series and dramatic productions since 1989.
Jinder is currently working with CBC and with Omnifilm Entertainment to write and produce a four-part mini-series based on the real-life incident of the Komagata Maru. She is also working on a ten-part documentary series, Life after Death. She also worked with Sienna Films and Canwest Media to produce a one-hour drama series, entitled, Combat Hospital. Jinder also was executive producer, writer and director on Ralph Klein, No Ordinary Man. She was also a part of the winning team that wrote CBC’s 49th & Main. Jinder was garnered with the Writer’s Guild Sondra Kelly Award in 2019. She is also the recipient of numerous prestigious awards including the Best Fresh Voice for Female Eye Film Festival and Worldfest Gold Award at the Houston International Film Festival. Jinder’s success also extends to directing and writing for factual series, X-Weighted for Anaid Productions. She is board member of Toronto Film and Television Digital Media Board, Writer’s Guild of Canada Diversity Board, Vice-President of the Female Eye Film Festival. She has also been a past board member for Women’s In The Director’s Chair and for the Yukon-BC Red Cross Society and for Explorasian Film Festival, Asian Heritage Society. She is a member of the Writer’s Guild of Canada and CFTPA.
Prior to working in film and television Jinder worked as a broadcaster/news reporter for several radio and television networks across Canada.
