Jackie English has spent 10 years as a host/ producer in kids TV, founded a film collective which made 8 shorts in 10 months (complete with a sponsored fundraising gala and screening), produced and directed On Stage On Demand for Bell Fibe (10 feature length movies-of-plays shot with 7 cameras with the support of Bell Local), created a unique theatre venue, won some awards… directed plays, coached actors for auditions, volunteered for LIFT….. shot commercials, choreographed, acted on TV/stage in comedy/drama… job shadowed exceptional directors as mentors, had the good fortune to collaborate with hundreds of talented actors/technicians/designer/artists. Met people, learned from everyone, said YES to every chance to gain experience and spend ten thousand hours on her craft. She has a wealth of ideas, and enjoys sparking the creativity of others.
In 2016, Jackie completed production on her feature film, Becoming Burlesque which she developed at the WIDC CAM in Toronto. The film opened the Canadian Film Festival, was a nominee for Best Feature Film at the Whistler Film Festival and earned additional accolades on its festival tour. Her short film, Diamonds in the Rough was an official selection for the Toronto International Short Film Festival.
