An award-winning director and writer with experience in features, television, commercials and web series, Hannah Cheesman straddles comedy, drama, and genre with passion and conviction. A consummate collaborator and natural leader, Cheesman is an actor’s director who wins the respect of crews and producers alike. DGC and CSA-nominated, and a TIFF Emerging Canadian Filmmaker, her work has shown at TIFF, Cannes, Palm Springs and Vimeo Staff Picks. Currently, Hannah is working with Local Time’s Lulu Wang (The Farewell, Expats) to produce her first auteur feature, “Succor”. She has shadow-directed on Star Trek: Discovery and Jann, and has directed on CBC’s Something Undone, for which she is nominated for a DGC award for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in a Dramatic Series. Hannah has also sold original shows to Apple+ Studios, The Mark Gordon Company, Bell Media, BBCA, to name a few, and has written on Workin’ Moms, SurrealEstate, Orphan Black and Find Me in Paris. Her first feature The Boathouse won BEST NARRATIVE FEATURE at San Diego International Film Festival GRAND PRIZE at Rhode Island. Hannah holds a Canadian and EU passport, and a US visa.
