Elizabeth started in the film and television industry at an early age. She studied acting as a teenager, wrote and directed stage plays in high school, and in 1988 was hired by Canada’s YTV as a reporter where she reviewed movies, interviewed actors and directors, and eventually moved behind the camera as segment producer, writer and director.
Elizabeth is a graduate of the American Film Institute’s Directing Program and Simon Fraser University’s Film Studies Program. She has written and directed award-winning short films and was recipient of the Canadian Academy of Cinema and Television’s National Apprenticeship Training Program award which sponsored Elizabeth to work alongside several veteran directors including Arthur Hiller, Rob Bowman, and Gary Harvey.
Elizabeth has directed on the series The Next Step where she has also served as a series writer and story editor, and The Perfect Landing. Her latest short film, Bartholomew screened at the Toronto International Short Film Festival and is touring festivals now. It is a comedy about a happy-go-lucky disco lover who is desperate to find a girlfriend. But when he gets that opportunity he doesn’t realize it may be more complicated than he thought.
