Born and raised in Mumbai, India, Mendez began her career in film, directing and producing television commercials for leading advertising agencies and multi-nationals based in Europe and Asia. Her forte was international co-productions and she executive produced several high-end commercials in over fifteen different countries from Australia, to South East Asia, the Middle East and Europe. She was the Managing Director of Tao Moving Pictures, a successful Mumbai-based agency for 35mm special effects that catered to the Indian feature film and television commercial industries. Not satisfied with commercials, Mendez expanded her portfolio to include documentaries, notably the feature-length docu-drama, Dalai Lama- Birth of a God. The documentary written, directed and edited by Mendez has aired on Discovery Channel and various other networks worldwide. Mendez immigrated to Canada to pursue a more creative and meaningful film career in both dramatic and documentary formats. She is a graduate of the Canadian Film Center (Director’s Lab, Alliance Atlantis Film Resident Program.) Mendez has written several scripts including, Crimson Sky and the optioned feature Guru Hop which she workshopped at WIDC in Banff, as well as the shorts Darla Smith and Jingle Bells. Her directing credits include the short films, Restoration, No Place to Hide, and Daffodils.
