Adelina Suvagau is an award-winning documentary and TV Producer with over 30 years experience in film, television and documentary production. In 1995 Adelina moved to Vancouver, Canada from Romania, with her husband and daughter Sonia, and founded Sonia Productions Inc 1998. Since 2004, Adelina Suvagau has produced over 800 one-hour television episodes, for Channel M and Omni Television, four feature documentaries, two television series, two dramatic shorts and two feature films.
Following a documentary and sold-out stage play of the same name, in 2020, Adelina co-wrote, directed and produced the dramatic feature film Box of Freedom, starring Sonia Suvagau as Dora, a comedienne / call girl who risks everything for the right to speak her mind following the fall of Communism in Romania. The film begins its festival tour in 2021.
Between 2006 and 2015, Adelina was the National Representative and then the Professional Development Director for the Documentary Organization of Canada, BC chapter (DOC BC). Between 2015 and 2016 she served as President of Cineworks, an artist-run production and exhibition centre that supports independent filmmakers and media artists in Vancouver.
